About my blog

Hello, my name is Simon Karnas. I’m a physicist, project manager and cyber security expert.

How did I get into the topic of cyber security?
In the 90’s I got into computer science while studying physics. What started with simple hobbies, games and programming developed into a career in cyber security after my studies. In this blog I pursue these great passions. It is very important to me that I make the topic of cyber security available to a wide audience using simple and practical examples from everyday life without a lot of mathematical frills.

Why should I be concerned with cyber security?
Precisely because we are confronted with this topic in the age of digitization. The best example are home banking attacks by so-called phishing. You only need to protect yourself very little. All it takes is something like “digital enlightenment 2.0”.

Isn’t this all too complicated?
Do you have to be an expert to find your way in the digital world (after all, almost all of us learned to read, write and do arithmetic in school without becoming writers or physicists)? Of course not! Because you don’t have to be a locksmith to know that you should lock your door when you leave the house. The same goes for cyber security.

Who else is the blog suitable for?
Interdisciplinary knowledge is more in demand today than ever and is unfortunately becoming increasingly rare, even among specialists. With my blog, I want to reach out to technically adept “non-experts”. Pupils, students and of course autodidacts.

I hope you will like my blog.
Your Simon
